  • As you may have heard, today Penguins captain Sidney Crosby was hit in the mouth by a deflected puck during today’s game against the Islanders. He “took a puck to the teeth, and lost a few of those”. Yikes. (Pittsburgh Penguins)
  • Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk is a nut job. Complete grassy knoll type stuff here. Apparently he plans to prove Matt Cooke intentionally injured Ottawa’s All-Star defenseman Erik Karlsson with help from forensic doctors. What? Get off it, Melnyk. Just get off it. (Senators Extra)
  • Who are this year’s buyers and sellers at the Trade Deadline? Some teams are buyers and some are sellers. But there are a few that are both. (USA Today)

  • Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli thought he and Flames GM Jay Feaster had a deal to send Jarome Iginla to Boston. Apparently, they did. So what happened? (Puck Daddy)
  • Here’s a timeline of Jarome Iginla’s career. From December 1999 to March 2013. What a career he’s had. (NHL)
  • We’re at the tail end of March and the Columbus Blue Jackets are in legitimate playoff contention. Without Rick Nash. Yes. This is real life. More power to them. (Dobber Sports)
  • Lockout, schmocout. TV ratings this season have been through the roof. Nationally, NBC Sports Network is on pace to set a record-high in viewership for NHL games. The Pittsburgh Penguins’ local ratings are better than any team in any sport since the 2007 Red Sox. Right behind Pittsburgh in ratings this season are Buffalo, Boston, Chicago, and St. Louis. (Sporting News)
  • Obviously not a good week for star injuries because a couple of days ago, Alex Ovechkin was tagged with a puck in the chin during practice. It required 22 stitches. (Washington Post)
  • VIDEO: Pavel Datsyuk dekes Logan Couture to the ice… on his birthday. Well, that’s embarrassing. (YouTube)
  • VIDEO: Behind the scenes with Brendan Shanahan and the details of what factors into a suspension. (YouTube)
