  • As you know, the Stanley Cup was awarded earlier this week and the Cup Parade for the Chicago Blackhawks was held yesterday. There were speeches, as you would expect. Very… spirited speeches. Corey Crawford, ladies and gentlemen. Oh, and Jonathan “Captain Serious” Toews moonwalked on the ice after the building cleared out. “F***** right, Chicago!” (CSN Chicago)
  • Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask is in line for a new contract. Reported by TSN’s Bob McKenzie, he’ll likely get $7M. Patrice Bergeron is expected to receive an 8-year, $6.5M per extension. So, how are the Bruins possibly going to make space for this? Well, Nathan Horton said he isn’t coming back. And apparently Tyler Seguin is trade bait. Oh boy, changes in Boston. Looks like Rask just might be able to get that $7M. “Why would I be nervous? Obviously we’re going to have some talks, but at the end of the day we’re going to leave all the [expletive] aside and make a deal that makes everybody happy”, said Rask on negotiations. He’s got a point. Hopefully for Boston, everyone leaves all the [expletive] aside. (CSNNE)
  • Lots of buyouts recently. Kinda hard to keep up, eh? Not any longer! Here’s the NHL’s Official Compliance Buyout Tracker! Every team has 2 available to them, but as of now only eight have been/or plan to be used. (NHL)

  • Nice knowing you, Kris Letang. After reportedly turning down an 8-year, $54 million extension from the Penguins on Thursday, he looks to be on his way out of Pittsburgh. The Penguins want to give him $7M, but he wants $7.5M. In Pittsburgh, you take less to come/stay. That’s just the way it is. If you don’t, you go. Salary cap, ladies and gentlemen. (Pittsburgh Tribune)
  • USA Hockey announced today that Dan Bylsma(Penguins coach) will be the head coach of the 2014 U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team. This comes a day after revealing that David Poile(Nashville general manager) will take over the GM duties for USA Hockey. (USA Hockey)
  • Welp. The Coyotes are moving the Seattle. That’s if they can’t work out a deal with Glendale. And as always, that’s not going to well. Part of the NHLPA’s memo to its members reads, “While there are several potential cities wot which the team might be relocated, it appears that Seattle is the most likely.” (Forbes)
  • When I’m feeling sad, I like to log onto the interwebz and talk to friends. Apparently, when the city of Boston is sad, they like to log onto the interwebz and watch “adult videos”. That’s what happened earlier this week after the Blackhawks won the Cup. Well then. (Puck Daddy)
  • Imagine the Sedin twins. Now imagine their new coach, John Tortorella. Now imagine the Sedin twins killing penalties and blocking shots. Tortorella said on Tuesday, “I’ll tell you right now, [the Sedins] are going to kill penalties. And if they’re going to kill penalties, they’re going to block shots.” Interesting. (Metro News)
  • Speaking of buyouts, Ilya Bryzgalov was bought out by the Flyers(shocker). His agent, Ritch Winter, then took shots at the way the Flyers played defense and how it had a negative effect on Bryz’ play saying, “It’s terrible in Philadelphia for a goaltender. They block shots. They don’t open up lanes. Goaltenders can’t see the puck.” Bryz himself took the class way out pretty much giving the “Thanks for the opportunity” response. (CSN Philly)
  • Winnipeg Jets defenceman Toby Enstrom was robbed and assaulted in his hometown of Örnsköldsvik in Sweden Friday night but is recovering with only minor injuries. “Apparently Toby was out for dinner with his family and went to pick up the cheque and went to the ATM to get some money and was robbed by three people. Toby is fine. He received a minor cut above the eye,” said Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff. (Winnipeg Free Press)
  • VIDEO: Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur won the cover vote for NHL14. (YouTube)
  • BONUS: The 2013 NHL Entry Draft is tomorrow! Who’s drafting where? Here’s the full draft order pending any trades. The Top 5 picks go to Colorado, Florida, Tampa Bay, Nashville, and Carolina. (NBC Sports)
  • BONUS: Recently discussed names aside, who is realistically on the trade block? Flyers defenceman Braydon Coburn, Bruins forward Rich Peverley, and Buffalo winger Thomas Vanek’s names, among others, seem to be up in the air. (Edmonton Journal)
